Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees (F).

STEP 1
In a medium saucepan, stir together margarine, brown sugar, and molasses over medium heat until dissolved. Pour into a large mixing bowl, let cool for 5 minutes.

Stir egg and vanilla into melted mixture until smooth. Sift flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves; stir into the wet mixture.

Cover and chill dough for at least 3 hours or overnight.

STEP 2
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4" thickness. Using bear shape cookie cutters cut dough and place cookies onto cookie sheet.

STEP 3
Bake for 10 - 15 minutes, cookies should be firm.
